Equitable assessments and alternative assessments guidelines
RMIT has developed the following Adjustments to assessment procedure to provide a clear university-wide policy on equitable assessment arrangements for students who require adaptations to the conditions of assessment tasks.
In addition Alternative Assessment Guidelines have also been developed to assist staff in developing an alternative forms of assessment.

Enabling students with print disability
Course materials in an alternative format may be required for students with a print disability to enable them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills on the same basis as students without disabilities. Find out more about enabling students with print disability.

More about developing inclusive teaching practice
The CATS (Creating Accessible Teaching and Support) website is a resource for Australian Universities that aims at improving the quality and teaching and assistance for students with disabilities. It includes:
- Information for teaching staff
- Information for administrative non-teaching staff
- Information for students
The Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) provides addition up-to-date information and resources to support the work of those in the higher education and training sector. It includes information about teaching students with particular disabilities such as:
- Hearing impairment
- Learning disability
- Medical disability
- Mobility disability
- Psychological or psychiatric disability
- Vision impairment

Disability Standards for Education were formulated under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and have been in place since 2005. The Standards clarify the obligations of education and training providers to ensure that students with disabilities are able to access and participate in education without experiencing discrimination.

Information Technology Accessibility Working Group (ITAWG)
The Information Technology Accessibility Working Group (ITAWG) has been established to provide informed technical advice and direction in the provision of assistive technologies that lead to improved student learning opportunities linked to the RMIT Disability Action Plan 2009 – 2015.
