Census dates explained
The census date is the deadline by which you must take certain actions, such as drop a course or cancel your program without financial penalty. The census date applies to each course you are enrolled in.
Do not ignore your census date or it will cost you financially.
Note: Census dates cannot be extended.

What you must do by the census date
The tables below show what action you must take, how you can do it, and the penalties that apply if you fail to complete that action by the relevant census date.

* If the census date falls on a weekend or public holiday and you need to complete the action in person, the deadline to do so is 5 pm on the last business day before the census date.
** Commencing international students: financial penalties may apply if you are a commencing international student. Refer to the RMIT refund policy. If you are a commencing international student and have enrolled in the first semester of a program, you must cancel your enrolment by the applicable census date or you will remain liable for fees. Your application for refund cannot be processed if you do not cancel your enrolment.
